Report: Texas oil and gas employment hits record

The state’s oil and gas workforce has climbed to its largest number this century, growing 16 percent in the past year, according to the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
Payrolls in the Texas oil and gas industry now list 243,900 employees.
The growth was driven largely by oil drilling and production in the Permian Basin in West Texas and in the Eagle Ford shale in the South, according to economist Karr Ingham, who conducted the analysis.
