Ohio shale boom to create more than 65,000 jobs by 2014

The burgeoning energy boom in eastern Ohio will create or support 65,680 jobs by 2014 while boosting the state’s economy, according to a study released this morning.
The study by the Ohio Shale Coalition is at least the third to look at the potential development of the oil and natural gas Utica shale. Other recent estimates have pegged job creation at very different figures — 200,000 and 20,000 — over the next several years.
